Yes! We truly believe that Yes Rent a Car is the best car rental in Cancun based on our phenomenal experience with them during our 10 day road trip around the Yucatan Peninsula.
During our travels, we have rented cars from several different rental car agencies and I think it’s safe to say that Yes Rent a Car was the most upfront and helpful out of any of these agencies.
First of all, they offer free airport pickup to take you back to their facility to finish up any paperwork and get you on the road. When we arrived in Cancun, we had some issues finding our driver to take us where we needed to go. Our flight had been delayed and we later found out that our driver, Fernando, had to move the car from our original pickup spot as he couldn’t stay there for that long. Helpful tip: set up transportation to wherever you are headed BEFORE you arrive in Cancun. There are many young men waiting outside of the airport to either make you pay extortionate amounts to where you want to go, or we even heard some horror stories later on about them dropping you off in a random location and stealing your luggage. I don’t mean to say this to put you off on going to Cancun, only to warn you and help you avoid getting yourself into a situation you don’t need nor want to find yourself in. These men approached us as we were trying to figure out how to find Fernando and even made it appear that they had called Yes Rent a Car to find out where our driver was (they are VERY good at what they do and make it appear that they really are trying to help you). Luckily for us, Guadalupe, one of the managers at Yes Rent a Car called us to inform us that Fernando was on his way to where we were and to just stay put and wait for him. Fernando pulled up a couple of minutes later and lets just say that at this point we were very glad to see him.
Fernando then drove us to where our rental car was waiting. While Ben is fluent in Spanish, I can only understand some Spanish and speak it a little, knowing this, Fernando switched between speaking Spanish and English while giving us helpful tips for our stay. He was very personable and we enjoyed the drive and getting to chat with him.
Tip: While they don’t expect it or pressure you, it is nice to give your driver a tip for picking you up or taking you back to the airport.
Upon arrival to Yes Rent a Car, we went inside to finish our paperwork and put our card on file. Unlike some rental car agencies, we were not pressured or forced to get extra insurance and there were no hidden fees. Guadalupe was very kind to us and even informed us that I could be added on as an additional driver for free. We were then finally on our way to start our trip.
Ben and I had zero issues with our car while we had it and found it reliable in getting us to where we wanted to go. Once our trip was over, and we returned our car, they took us back to the airport (again for free) and we were on our way home again. I honestly can’t say enough about Yes Rent a Car and we would definitely use them again and recommend them to our friends and family.

Note from Ben: One of our credit cards comes with some insurance for car rentals, which is what we used to book our vehicle with Yes Rent a Car. However, you will find that liability insurance from the rental agency is required everywhere in Mexico. With Yes Rent a Car it’s already included in the price, which is great.
